Riverside High School senior Aubree Huston has officially signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at the University of Rio Grande.
Huston, a standout player for Riverside’s volleyball team, will continue her athletic and academic journey at the NAIA college.
The daughter of Summer and Jeremiah Huston, Huston was drawn to the University of Rio Grande for its unique opportunity to attend community college for the first two years while still staying in dorms and playing sports.
“I love that you can go to community college for the first two years and still be able to stay in their dorms and play sports,” she explained.
In addition to pursuing her passion for volleyball, Huston plans to major in Social Work at the university.
Competing at the collegiate level has always been a dream for her, and she is excited to take on this next challenge. “My personal goal is to figure out what I love and to just have fun. Competing in college has always been a goal of mine,” she shared.
Huston believes her positive attitude is a key strength that will help her excel at the next level. “I know my attitude will help me contribute to the team and stay focused,” she added.
As she prepares to join the University of Rio Grande’s volleyball team, Huston’s primary expectation is to enjoy the experience. “I just want to have fun and play the game I love,” she said.
Huston was joined by her parents, Summer and Jeremiah Huston, and her coaches, Ashley Borchers and Morgan Robison, for the signing ceremony.
