Romero takes 3rd at NCAA wrestling championships

Former Mechanicsburg wrestling standout and Ohio State senior Kaleb Romero took third Saturday at the NCAA championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Romero (184 lbs) advanced out of the consolation semifinals via a medical forfeit.

He then won his final match as a Buckeye in dramatic fashion, defeating No. 2 Trent Hidlay of North Carolina State with 1-second remaining.

Romero is a three-time All-American.

He has competed at four NCAA championships.

Romero wrestled seven times at these championships and came away with six victories while earning his highest NCAA finish.
