Smith earns All-American honors; Chiefs MS XC runners compete at Nationals

Four Chieftain Middle School and Youth runners competed Sunday at the Middle School Cross Country Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, taking on some of the strongest fields from across the United States.

Emma Smith led the way, earning All-American honors in the 6th-grade-and-under division after finishing in the top 25. Smith covered the 3K course in 12:20, placing 19th overall.

In the boys’ 6th-grade-and-under race, Emmett Lowe finished 42nd with a time of 12:35.

Jackson Maus represented the Chiefs in the Middle School Boys 4K race, capping his MS XC career with an impressive 86th-place finish out of 294 runners, stopping the clock at 14:41.

In the Middle School Girls 4K race, Kylie Lowe ran strong for a 153rd-place finish out of 289 competitors, crossing in 17:11.

Maus will move on to join the high school program next season, while the younger runners look to build on their national experience and return even stronger. Great job, Chiefs!
