Bellefontaine High School standout Kelsie Snapp is headed to the OHSAA Division II State Track and Field Meet after earning a third-place finish in the shot put at the Piqua Regional on Thursday.
Snapp recorded a throw of 41 feet, 7.75 inches, securing her spot among the top four qualifiers advancing to the state meet.
Bellefontaine had additional strong performances in the prelims, setting the stage for a competitive finals round on Saturday.
In the 100-meter hurdles, junior Kylie Adams finished second with a time of 15.01 seconds, and senior Callie Shumaker followed closely in third at 15.07, both advancing to Saturday’s final.
Shumaker also dominated the 300-meter hurdles, winning the event with a time of 44.90, while Adams took second in 45.79, as both qualified for the finals.
In relay action, the 4×100 team—made up of Jillian Ullom, Kylie Adams, Callie Shumaker, and Richiona Burnell—finished sixth with a time of 50.27, advancing to Saturday’s finals as well.
Finals will continue Saturday afternoon, with multiple Lady Chieftains looking to punch their own tickets to state alongside Snapp.
The Lady Raiders also competed on Thursday.
While no athletes advanced to Saturday’s finals on the track, several posted competitive performances:
- 100m Hurdles: Kate Gulick – 10th place (16.38)
- 100m Dash: Abby Vance – 13th place (13.01)
- 4x200m Relay: Chamberlin, Stoodt, Elliott, Vance – 14th place (1:49.26)
- 300m Hurdles: Kate Gulick – 14th place (50.09)
- 200m Dash: Abby Vance – 9th place (26.41), Scarlett Elliott – 13th place (27.07)
- Shot Put: Autumn Cline – 11th place (33-09.25)
The Lady Raiders will return for the second day of competition on Saturday, May 31.
