The Benjamin Logan boys JV and varsity squad played at Bethel Saturday evening.
The JV team tied 0-0 with Liam Sweeney getting the shutout.
Their record is now 3-2-5 on the season.
The varsity team also tied Bethel 4-4.
Graham Studebaker scored 2, Seth Jones scored a goal and had an assist, and Kendahl Stanley scored a goal.
Both the Raiders and the Bees stand at 4-4-2 on the season.
Coach Hughes “Wow, what a game. We knew Bethel would be a great matchup for our program and I think both teams had some adversity throughout the game they had to overcome. Going from up 1 to down 2 with some injuries occurring we were spread thin at times but we really showed some great fight and everyone really stepped up. With 6 games in 12 days we’ll rest and get ready for Shawnee on Monday.”
Bellefontaine traveled to Fairbanks High School Saturday morning for an out-of-conference match-up.
The game started off kind of slow for both teams.
Fairbanks was gifted a PK and went up 1-0.
The Chiefs then tied the game with a goal by Callie Shumaker, assisted by keeper Lexi Robinson.
Robinson was able to get off a great punt, and Shumaker’s speed was too much for the Panther’s defense to keep up.
Both teams went into halftime with a goal apiece.
As the game went on, it became very physical on both sides.
The Chiefs went up 2-1 after a PK goal from Parker Penhorwood.
“I usually make the decision to have Penhorwood take the PK 99% of the time. She has a great touch and an excellent history of putting the ball in the back of the net for us,” said Coach Shumaker.
The Chiefs would add 2 more goals later in the second half to close out this contest.
Callie Shumaker was assisted by Ava Watson and Chloe Stolly.
The Bellefontaine Lady Chiefs are home this week coming up against Kenton Ridge(Monday), and Jonathon Alder(Thursday). Come out and support the team.
