In softball Monday night, the Indian Lake Varsity Lakers took Monday’s game and a dramatic fashion, with a 1-0 walk-off victory over New Bremen.
The game was tied at zero at the bottom of the seventh when Madison Brentlinger singled, scoring one run.
Brentlinger stepped into the circle first for the Lakers, allowing two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking four.
Haley Edwards, Katie Roby, Abigail Elliott, Geonna Spires, Madison Brentlinger, and Kayleigh Zedlitz each collected one hit for the Lake.
Indian Lake plays on Tuesday against Kenton.
The Bellefontaine Chieftains had an up-and-down game, but they were ultimately able to pull it out in the end winning 11-10 against Riverside.
Kassi Prine had a triple, Alexza Clifton went three for four with two doubles, and Addison Wical added a home run.
They play again on Tuesday at Lima Shawnee.
The Benjamin Logan Lady Raider Softball team opened up their season with a 10-3 victory over visiting Franklin Monroe on Monday night.
Benjamin Logan tallied twelve hits from seven different players.
Courtney Bowers and Kylie Harner each had two hits including a double and two RBI.
Bailee Stover also had two hits and two RBI, and Kyndal Cronkleton added three hits and an RBI.
Keeli Rostorfer, Skylar Miracle, and Brooks Myers each added hits.
On the mound, Chloe Crumm earned the win, striking out nine batters.
The Lady Raiders will play again Friday when they travel to Kenton Ridge to open up conference play.
The game will begin at 5:15 PM.
Riverside Varsity softball opened up the 2024 season at Bellefontaine Monday night and fell 10-11 in 7 innings.
Riverside Freshman Keira Manahan did all she could do on the mound for her first start.
Her defense let her down committing eight errors on the night.
Keira only gave up three earned runs.
Jayden Hoffer had three hits on the night, and Katie Schlumbohm had two hits with a triple and a double.
Riverside will host Bethel Tuesday night at Home.
The Riverside Pirates JV team beat the Chiefs on the road Monday night 14-2.
Miah Carman had an outstanding night at the plate with a solo home run to start the game, two singles, and a double.
Avery Perk had six strikeouts for the night as well.
