Spartans fall to Botkins; more Tuesday soccer action

The Calvary Christian Spartans boys soccer team fell to the Botkins Trojans in a 3-0 home defeat on Tuesday.

The Spartans fought hard in the first half, keeping the Trojans to one goal. In the second half, the Trojans found two more goals to make the final score 3-0.

The Spartans will travel away to play Yellow Springs on Saturday for their next contest.

In other boys’ matchups, Indian Lake defeated Northeastern 13-1. Leading the scoring cause were seven different goal scorers: Aidan Stinebaugh, Avery Pequignot, Carson Clary, Gavin Dawson, Titus Kelly, Cason Lacher, and Will Faler.

Indian Lake will be back in action on Wednesday against Shawnee.

The West Liberty-Salem Tigers won their 5th game of the season in a 4-0 shutout against New Knoxville.

The Tigers scored 2 goals in each half.  Scoring for West Liberty-Salem were Kamden Yang with 2 goals, while Lance Campbell and Conner Leichty each tallied a marker.  Wyatt Longaberger had 2 assists, and Noah Sarver and Jake Lauck each had 1 assist. Tucker Searles and the defenders earned the shutout. Searles had 3 saves.

Finally, the Bellefontaine junior varsity boys’ team fell 5-4 in a high-scoring affair against Jonathan Alder.

The Pioneers scored four goals in the first half, but the Chieftains battled back with three of their own to start the second half. Each team added an extra goal late as Jonathan Alder holds off the Chiefs for the win.

Caden Yoder led the effort for Bellefontaine with a hat-trick, and Don Smith scored the remaining goal. Liam Scott added 2 assists.

The West Liberty-Salem girls’ side traveled to Botkins Tuesday night for non-league play, falling 4-0.

Kaylee Blair had 18 saves in goal to lead the effort.

The Tigers will host Madison Plains on Monday for an OHC matchup.
