The Varsity Spartans advanced to the OVCC Championship game Thursday night with a big win over CHESS Christian Academy, 49-42.
The Spartans defeated CHESS in a scrappy matchup after being down 10 points at the end of the 1st quarter.
The Spartans were up by 2 at the half and for the most part, maintained a narrow lead until pulling away in the end of the 4th quarter.
The Spartans were led by Wyatt Schlatter and Philip Davie who both netted 17 points a piece.
Schlatter also notched a double-double by grabbing 13 rebounds and had 2 steals and 1 assist.
Davie also had 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists.
Evan Patton scored 8 points and had 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 assists and Luke Gaertner added 5 points and 4 rebounds.
Also, scoring for the Spartans was Christian Rogan who chipped in 2 points and had 1 rebound and 1 steal.
The team’s OVCC record is 15-1 and 16-5 overall.
They will play the championship game in Dayton on Tuesday at 8 pm.
