The countdown is over, and another high school sports season is officially here.
The 2026-27 Ohio High School Athletic Association fall season gets underway today as student-athletes across Ohio prepare to tee off, take the field, hit the court, and race toward another year of competition. Golf is the first fall sport to begin, with teams opening official practices and matches today.
Football, volleyball, soccer, girls tennis, and cross country won’t be far behind. Official practices for those sports begin Friday, August 1, with regular-season competition kicking off throughout the first half of August.
This school year also marks a major milestone as the OHSAA celebrates its 120th year of sponsoring interscholastic athletics in Ohio.
Local schools across Logan and Champaign counties will compete in several different divisions this fall following the OHSAA’s recently announced divisional realignment.
