West Liberty-Salem:
Thursday night, the West Liberty-Salem 7th grade girls’ basketball team improved to 5-0 with a 21-16 road victory over Greenview. Lilly Yeater and Avery Randall each scored 3 points, while Avery Brown added 4 points. Rylee Falloon chipped in 3 points, and Bella Johnson led the team with 8 points. The Lady Tigers will return home on Monday to face Greenon, with the game scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM.
Bellefontaine:
The 7th grade Lady Chiefs lost to Ben Logan 25-11. Kennedy Hairston led the team with 4 points and 6 rebounds. They now sit at 3-4 on the season and will travel to Indian Lake on Monday, January 6th. The 8th-grade Lady Chiefs beat Ben Logan 28-21. Mia Brown scored 11 points, had 3 steals, and grabbed 8 rebounds. Lexey Brown posted 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Cameo Green added 4 points and strong defense, and Paxton Stewart contributed 3 points. The Chiefs will return to play on January 6th.
The Bellefontaine 7th grade boys defeated Ben Logan 42-20, with Sennett Stolly leading with 14 points. Will Jenkins contributed 11 points, and Colson Garver added 7 points. The 8th-grade boys lost to Ben Logan 39-26, with Zavion Perez scoring 19 points.
Benjamin Logan:
The Benjamin Logan 7th grade girls defeated Bellefontaine 25-11 to improve to 7-0. Maci Stafford led with 15 points, followed by Addy Leonard with 6 points, 6 steals, and 2 rebounds. Michaelee Hoge added 2 points and 9 rebounds. The Benjamin Logan 8th grade girls lost a close game at Bellefontaine 29-21. Brielle Kline led with 10 points and 6 steals, while Paislee Rodenberger scored 7 points with 6 steals.
Riverside:
The Riverside Lady Pirates faced Covington on Thursday, December 19th. The 7th-grade girls lost 25-15, with Bella Robinson leading with 12 points. Lilly Jackson, Izzy Hudson, and Gracie Rench all contributed 1 point each. The 8th grade girls won 25-14, with Morgan Klingelhofer scoring 12 points, and Ellie Zwiebel adding 11 points. Bella Robinson chipped in 2 points, and Rollie Foreman grabbed 7 rebounds. Maddie Schindewolf and Eva Dodds each had 5 rebounds.
Indian Lake:
The Indian Lake 7th grade girls lost to Urbana 20-15. Addison Headings led with 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 steals. Abby Bihn added 4 points and 6 steals. The 8th grade girls lost 58-16, with Laura Metzger scoring 10 points and Claire Tidwell adding 4 points and 7 rebounds.
The Indian Lake 8th grade boys basketball team lost to Urbana 55-35. They are now 6-2 on the season. Nixon Lillard led the team in scoring with 14 points. Alex Tussing had 9 points. Kirk Beres, Cohen Brown, and Rush Hurley each contributed 4 points. Reid Roberts contributed defensive and offensive efforts to the team as well. They next play at home on Saturday, January 4th against Anna.
CCS Spartans:
The CCS Spartans Junior High girls’ basketball team defeated Shekinah Christian School 14-9. Destiney Mathys and Caroline Moore each scored 4 points, while Madelyn Carter, Karis Willets, and Eden LeCrone each scored 2 points. Avery Rogers had 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
These local teams continue to show competitive spirit and determination as their seasons progress.
Benjamin Logan:
The 7th grade Benjamin Logan Boys Basketball team fell to Bellefontaine. 43-20 Thursday night.
Leading Benjamin Logan in scoring was Baikyr Roberts 8 points, Preston Mikes 5 points, Luke Long 3 points, Nevada Coleman 2 points, and Zayden Wilson 2 points.
The 8th-grade Benjamin Logan team faired better. They defeated Bellfontaine, 39-26.
The Raiders were on fire to start the game taking the lead 15-4 after the first quarter. Micah Gregg led with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Carrick Spriggs added 12 points and 4 steals. Gabe Predmore chipped in with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals. Brantley Karn had 3 points. Karson McCoy, Ashe Moorehouse, and Colton Little played great team defense. The Raiders move to 4-1 on the season.
