Tiger, Indians roll to dynamic season-opening wins; more girls’ basketball finals

Friday night had a full slate of girls basketball across the area.

West Liberty-Salem defeated Bellefontaine, 54–17.

West Liberty-Salem was led by the following players:

  • Ava Astorino – 15 (5 made three-point shots)
  • Ava Poppe – 12
  • Lucy Cole – 8

For Bellefontaine:

  • Joy Fogan – 7
  • Sophia Jacobs – 3
  • 3 players – 2 each

A big night on the court for Mechanicsburg as the Indians rolled past Waynesfield-Goshen, 58–14.

Mechanicsburg put three players in double figures:

  • Clara Forrest – 15

  • Mylee DeLong – 12

  • Clair Rodgers – 11

In the JV matchup, Mechanicsburg also came out on top, 30–25, with Sophia Love leading the squad with 11.

Triad opened their season on the road at Shawnee in a varsity-only matchup at 5:30. Shawnee came away with a 71–13 victory.

For Triad:

  • Jazz Ford led with 5 points and 4 rebounds.

  • Emma Martin added 5 boards.

  • Gracie Martin finished with 4 rebounds.

The Cardinals start the season 0–1.
