Area basketball teams were busy Wednesday night, with strong performances at the middle school and junior varsity levels highlighting the action.
8th Grade Girls — West Liberty-Salem 35, Northeastern 17
The West Liberty-Salem 8th grade Lady Tigers picked up a convincing 35–17 win over Northeastern to improve their record to 9–3 on the season.
Bella Johnson led the scoring attack with 15 points, while Rylee Falloon added nine. Avery Randall chipped in six points, Lilly Yeater scored three, and Emily Leas finished with two.
West Liberty-Salem will be back on the road Monday when they travel to Mechanicsburg.
7th Grade Girls — West Liberty-Salem 26, Northeastern 5
The Lady Tigers’ 7th grade squad also earned a decisive victory, defeating Northeastern 26–5.
Zoey Richardson paced the team with 15 points. Chloe Stanton added four, Iris Meister scored three, while Ava Prater and Izzy Jones each finished with two.
West Liberty-Salem will return to action Saturday at home against West Jefferson, with tip-off scheduled for 10 a.m.
VARSITY GIRLS — Fairbanks 64, Triad 12
Triad hosted Fairbanks on Wednesday but came up short, falling 64–12.
Jazz Ford led Triad with six points and three rebounds. Lilly Allison and Emma Bialecki each scored two points, while Taylor Queen added three rebounds.
Triad’s varsity record now stands at 0–12 overall and 0–17 in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
JV BOYS — Benjamin Logan 45, Indian Lake 40
The Benjamin Logan JV boys earned a road win Wednesday night, defeating Indian Lake 45–40.
Owen Stratton led the Raiders with 13 points, followed closely by Caden Powell with 12. Carrick Spriggs rounded out the scoring effort with 10 points.
