West Liberty-Salem 17, Triad 5 (5 innings)
The West Liberty-Salem Lady Tigers dominated the Triad Lady Cardinals 17-5, improving to 3-4, while Triad falls to 1-6.
WL-S jumped ahead with a seven-run first inning, highlighted by a two-out RBI groundout from Karlee Lucas and RBI singles from Ashlyn Yeater, Kaylee Blair, and Kiersten Stoll. The next two innings saw both teams trade runs: Triad scored on singles by Haillei Jenkins and Emma Enochs, while WL-S added runs aided by Triad errors.
In the third, Triad scored twice on an Emma Martin triple, but WL-S responded with an RBI groundout from Lucas and a solo homer from Olivia Reichardt, making it 11-4. WL-S continued to pile on runs with singles from Sydney Conley and Emma King, a double from Blair, a triple from Stoll, and an RBI groundout from Reichardt, finishing at 17-5.
Stoll led the Lady Tigers at 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Six players recorded hits, and seven had at least one RBI. For Triad, Martin went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Jenkins finished 2-for-2 with three runs scored. The teams meet again Tuesday at Triad.
Riverside 14, Bethel 4 (6 innings)
The Riverside Lady Pirates overcame an early 4-0 deficit to beat the Bethel Lady Bees 14-4 in a six-inning run-rule win.
Bethel scored two in the first on a two-out single and added one each in the third and fourth thanks to Riverside errors. Riverside finally rallied in the bottom of the fourth: a walk, an error, and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for Keira Manahan, whose grounder scored two runs.
In the fifth, Zoey Ransbottom tied the game with a homer, Ellie Zwiebel doubled in Emma Pope, Kara Klingler drove in another, and Chloe Purtee added a two-RBI single, giving Riverside an 8-4 lead. Six more runs crossed in the sixth on a walk, RBI fly, singles from Manahan and Emilee Robinson, including a three-run single from Robinson to finish the run-rule win.
Manahan pitched all six innings, striking out six, and went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Robinson’s three-RBI single tied the team high, while Ransbottom and Purtee each had two hits and two RBIs. Riverside hosts Northridge Tuesday.
Tecumseh 6, Bellefontaine 5
The Bellefontaine Lady Chieftains fell in a thriller to the Tecumseh Lady Arrows, 6-5, dropping to 2-5 on the season.
Tecumseh scored first in the third with a two-out, two-run homer to left. Bellefontaine responded in the fourth: Ava Dolan doubled, Joy Fogan singled to move her to third, Chloe Heminger drove in a run, and Alayna Boyd cleared the bases with a two-out single. Maci Flesher added another single, giving the Lady Chieftains a 4-2 lead.
Tecumseh answered with four runs in the fifth, including a two-run homer that tied the game and a single plus RBI pop fly that gave them a 6-4 lead. Bellefontaine got one back on an RBI fly from Heminger, but Tecumseh held on.
Bellefontaine was led by Heminger and Boyd with two RBIs each, while Dolan and Wical had two hits apiece. Tecumseh escapes with the win, and the teams rematch Wednesday in Tecumseh.
Shawnee 12, Indian Lake 6
The Indian Lake Lady Lakers dropped a 12-6 decision at Shawnee, falling to 2-2 on the season.
Indian Lake scored in each of the first two innings: Brylee Buyer had an RBI groundout, followed by a solo homer from Annie Rapp. Shawnee erupted in the third, scoring five runs to take a 5-2 lead with a mix of RBI hits and doubles. The Braves added three more in the fourth, then an RBI in the fifth to make it 9-2.
The Lakers rallied with two RBI singles from Payton Davis and MacKenzie Miller, but Shawnee responded with three more runs, including a solo homer to make it 12-5. Indian Lake scored once in the seventh on an RBI from Rapp, but that was all they could manage.
Rapp finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Miller, Bre Wisener, Kiylee Haude, and David each had two hits. Shawnee dominated early and held off the Lakers’ late surge. The teams meet again Wednesday in Indian Lake.
Fairbanks 11, Mechanicsburg 5
The Mechanicsburg Lady Indians struggled again, dropping an early-season road contest to the Fairbanks Lady Panthers, 11-5.
Fairbanks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on a single that scored a runner, then added two more in the second thanks to errors during a two-out at-bat, putting the Panthers up 3-0. Both teams quieted down until the fourth, when Mechanicsburg got on the board with Keelyn McGhee singling to center to score Bella Batkiewicz. In the fifth, Birdie Wilhelm launched a solo homer over center to tie the game at 3-3.
The bottom of the sixth turned the tide as Fairbanks erupted for eight runs. Four RBI singles, a fielder’s choice, a bases-loaded walk, and two runs scored on Mechanicsburg errors helped the Panthers pull away. Mechanicsburg tried to rally in the seventh: Avery McDowell hit a two-out single to score a run, then came around on a dropped third strike, while Batkiewicz added a single. An attempted advance to third ended in a throw out, sealing Fairbanks’ 11-5 win.
Mechanicsburg saw standout offensive performances from McDowell, Batkiewicz, and McGhee, all with two hits each. McDowell drove in two runs and scored twice herself. The Lady Indians and Lady Panthers will meet again Tuesday in Mechanicsburg.
Kenton Ridge 13, Urbana 3 (6 innings)
The Urbana Hillclimbers got off to a strong start but were eventually run-ruled by the Kenton Ridge Lady Cougars, 13-3.
Urbana loaded the bases in the first, then Morgan Boyd delivered a double to right field, scoring two to put the Hillclimbers up 2-0. Kenton Ridge answered immediately with a one-out, two-run homer to center, tying the game. The Cougars added a run in the second on a wild pitch and kept the pressure, scoring three in the third and a solo shot in the fourth to make it 7-2.
Urbana fought back with a two-out homer from Boyd in the fourth to make it 7-3, but Kenton Ridge exploded for six runs in the sixth, using a combination of hits, walks, and errors to end the game under the run rule.
Boyd finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs, accounting for all of Urbana’s runs, while Chloe Easterday went 3-for-3 with a run scored. The Hillclimbers will host the Cougars again Wednesday.
North Union 5, Benjamin Logan 0
The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders fell 5-0 on the road to the North Union Lady Wildcats, falling to 3-2 on the season.
The Wildcats put the game out of reach early, scoring three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-RBI triple to open the scoring. They added a run in the second to make it 4-0. North Union pitching was dominant throughout, escaping jams and preventing the Lady Raiders from reaching scoring position, eventually closing out the shutout.
Benjamin Logan struggled offensively, but Rylan Norviel recorded two hits, while Brielle Kline, Adilynne Gregg, and Jozie Taylor each added one. Benjamin Logan will host North Union again Wednesday in a rematch.
Northwestern 18, Graham 0 (5 innings)
The Graham Lady Falcons were overwhelmed by the Northwestern Lady Warriors, 18-0, dropping to 3-4 on the season.
Northwestern scored in every inning, racking up 18 hits, including four doubles, two triples, and a fourth-inning homer. The Lady Warriors’ pitching held Graham to just two hits and a single walk, shutting down any rally attempts.
Graham had chances in the first two innings, but Northwestern’s defense and pitching kept them off the board. Lexi Baker and Sophia Fraley recorded the only hits for the Lady Falcons, while Abby Chamberlain drew the lone walk. The teams meet again Wednesday in Springfield.
