HomeLocal SportsTigers down Catholic Central, Riverside falls to Northridge – Thursday basketball scoresTigers down Catholic Central, Riverside falls to Northridge – Thursday basketball scoresThu, January 12, 2023 by News RoomSHARE NOW Area basketball teams were in action Thursday.The Riverside varsity girls fell to Northridge 35-27.The Lady Pirates were led by Ayva Stewart with 8 points.Riverside falls to 5-9 (2-6 TRC).The Lady Pirates won the JV game 34-30.Avery Perk led with 7 points and 8 rebounds while Zoie Armbruster pulled down 8 boards.The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls edged past Catholic Central 47-40.Chaley Wade led the Lady Tigers with 15 points, Lilly Weaver tallied 10 points, Bailey Poppe had 8 points, Ava Astroino recorded 6 points, Maddie Cole had 5 points, and Megan Hollar added 3 points.West Liberty-Salem improves to 9-6 (7-3 OHC).Middle School:The Bellefontaine 7th-grade girls beat Northridge 22-14.Sloan Stolly led the Chiefs with 11 points and 7 steals, Ava Oppy chipped in 5 points and 6 rebounds, Joy Fogan added 4 points and 6 boards, and Amari Hunsicker scored 2 points and snagged 5 steals.Bellefontaine improves to 8-3.The Lady Chieftain 8th-grade team ran past Northridge 43-21.Haille Lamb led Bellefontaine with 15 points, Grace Brown had 12, Emma Whitaker tallied 8, Presley Vigansky chipped in with 4, Sophia Jacobs added 2 and Paige Smith had 1 point.Alivia Wage and Hannah Wilson gave solid minutes on the court.Both the Lady Chieftain 7th and 8th-grade teams will host Ridgemont Saturday.The Bellefontaine 7th-grade boys defeated Northridge 36-30.Reign St. Clair led the Chiefs with 15 points and Grady Graham scored 13.The Benjamin Logan 7th-grade girls lost to Northwestern 34-24.Brylee Buyer, Hailey Smith, and Autumn Cline all led the team with 5 points each.The 8th-grade Lady Raiders won 29-16.Elliott Butler led Benjamin Logan with 11 points.The Raiders will be back in action Thursday against Northridge starting at 5:30.The Benjamin Logan 7th-grade boys defeated Northwestern 35-15.Maddox Vermillion led the Raiders with 23 points.The Benjamin Logan 8th-grade boys beat Northwestern 45-39.Alex Hassel paced the Raiders with 17 points, while Andrew Frederick added 8 points.The Indian Lake 7th-grade girls defeated Jonathan Alder 36-20.Rya Pequignot led the Lakers with 14 points, while Alivia Kinney poured in 11.The 8th-grade Lady Lakers came up short to Jonathan Alder 17-16.Indian Lake was led by Addy Roby and Courtney Altstaetter with 6 points each.The Riverside 7th-grade boys fell to Northridge 46-26.Leading the Pirates was Justin Mazariegos with 12 points, and Brody Osborne and Gunner Carpenter each pitched in 7 points.In the 8th-grade game, Riverside lost 62-20.David Gross led the Pirates with 6 points and Colton Hurley pitched in 5 points.The West Liberty-Salem 7th-grade girls ran past Mechanicsburg 23-6.Leading the way was Arianna Weaver with 11 points, Isla Leichty netted 6 points, and Ellery Wygal, Lucy Cole, and Nevaeh Gravely each scored 2 points.The West Liberty-Salem 8th-grade girls topped Mechanicsburg 35-18.Belle Sarver led the Lady Tigers with 12 points, Maddie Adkins pitched in 9, Lucy Cole added 7, Audri Evilsizor had 3 and Emma Liggett and Ariana Weaver each scored 2 points.The Indians were paced by Clara Forrest with 8 points.West Liberty-Salem is now 7-4.The West Liberty-Salem 7th-grade boys ran past Mechanicsburg 47-23.Leading the Tigers was Asher Cole with 12 points, Zeke Longshore added 11 points, Liam Barger tallied 9, Beckett Sullivan recorded 8, Brayan Gullett had 6, and David Roberts scored 2 points.The 7th-grade Tigers improve to 10-0.
