Tigers swamp the Lakers in extra innings, Falcons fall in Coldwater

West Liberty-Salem 7, Indian Lake 6

The West Liberty-Salem Tigers rallied to defeat Indian Lake 7-6 on Friday.

The Tigers trailed by as many as five runs during the game.

Indian Lake got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning when Madden Lillard doubled in two runs, and Cyrus Cummins singled in another.

Timmy Howells hit a sacrifice fly, which helped West Liberty tie the game at six in the top of the sixth.

The Tigers didn’t take the lead until later in the game.

The game was still tied at six in the top of the eighth when a passed ball scored one run.

Jake Evans stepped on the hill first for West Liberty and gave up six hits and six runs (five earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three.

But it was Brodey Deam who earned the win for the Tigers, giving up just two hits in four and one-third scoreless innings, striking out five and walking one.

Cummins took the loss for Indian Lake.

The reliever went two innings, allowing one run (zero earned) on one hit.

Lillard opened the game for the Lakers.

The hurler gave up nine hits and five runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking two in the no-decision effort.

The Tigers garnered 10 hits in the game, with Deam, Dallas Koons, and Caleb Hershberger each collecting two hits for West Liberty.

Lillard, Cummins, and Cooper Hall each collected two hits for Indian Lake.

Lillard went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two RBIs.

Next up for West Liberty is a trip to Cedarville on Saturday. The Lakers visit Anna.

Coldwater 5, Graham 1

The Graham Falcons fell to Coldwater 5-1 on Friday.

Coldwater opened the scoring in the first after Baylen Blockberger singled, scoring a run.

They added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Coldwater scored on a passed ball, Mason Smith singled down the right field line, and Cody Depweg doubled to right field, each scoring one run.

Owen Powell began the game for Graham and gave up eight hits and four runs over three innings, striking out one and walking two.

Mason Welsch started on the hill for Coldwater.

He gets the win after giving up eight hits and one run over seven innings, striking out two.

Dylan LaFollette and Adam Levy each collected two hits for Graham.

Coldwater collected nine hits in the game.

Mason Smith and Brady Lefeld each collected two hits for Coldwater.
