It was a historic night for the Benjamin Logan boys soccer team as they earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over Kenton Ridge, improving their season record to 9-3-1 and staying atop the Mad River Division of the CBC.
Senior Aidan Todd stole the spotlight, scoring both goals for the Raiders and etching his name into the program’s record books. His two goals on the night gave him 58 career goals, breaking the record previously held by George Kern (56 goals, 2015–2018). Todd also adds to his single-season goal record, now with 30, and his career points record, now sitting at 145.
Assists in the game came from Gavin Jordan and Landen Simon, who helped set up Todd’s milestone moments. The win was not only important for the standings, but also a memorable one for the program.
Head coach Jamie Hughes praised both the team’s performance and Todd’s accomplishment:
“First of all, that was a great win tonight against a very good Kenton Ridge squad. They are very dangerous, and that’s no doubt our biggest win of the season. But what a night for Aidan Todd. We thought this was a record he might be able to get coming into the season, but he had to stay healthy and have the teammates around him to put him in position to score. I’m very proud of his accomplishments and couldn’t be happier for him. He’s such a great kid and leader on this team—always smiling and working hard. I’m also thankful to not only have his dad helping us coach, but to be a part of his success.”
The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders suffered a tough 2-1 loss to Kenton Ridge.
The Cougars scored the game-winning goal with just 1:24 left in the second half, handing Benjamin Logan only their second loss of the season.
Brooklyn Smedley scored the lone goal for the Raiders, assisted by Daylin Varner. The Lady Raiders are now 9-2-1 on the season and remain in the hunt for a division title as they look to finish strong in the final stretch.
The West Liberty-Salem girls lost to Miami East at home 6-2.
Kaylee Blair had 19 saves in the goal. Scoring for the Tigers was Jenna Cline with both goals.
The Tigers are 3-7-1 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Tigers will host Greenview next Wednesday evening at home for conference play, with a 5:30 p.m. start.
