Urbana boys rolls to first win; BHS boys, BL and Triad girls fall in varsity basketball

Monday night brought a full slate of high school basketball across the region, with Bellefontaine, Urbana, and Triad all taking the court. The evening featured competitive conference matchups, strong individual scoring efforts, and early-season momentum builders for several programs.

BOYS – Bellefontaine vs. Tecumseh

The Bellefontaine Chieftains fell to the Tecumseh Arrows 70–63 in a tight Central Buckeye Conference matchup. The loss moves Bellefontaine to 1–1, while Tecumseh improves to 2–0.

Bellefontaine Scoring:

  • Jair Mundy — 23 points

  • Grayson Lotts — 17 points

  • CJ Butler — 9 points

  • Blake Loomis — 8 points

Tecumseh’s Corey Russell led all scorers with 26 points.

In the JV game, Bellefontaine earned a 54–49 win behind Reign St. Clair’s 14 points and AJ Conaway’s 12 points.

The freshman Chiefs also came away with a victory, defeating Tecumseh 49–29, led by Tyrin Johnson’s 24 points and Matthew Dearwester’s 10.

Bellefontaine returns to action Friday when they host London.

BOYS – Urbana vs. Calvary Christian / Greeneview

Varsity

Urbana rolled to an 87–18 win over Calvary Christian.

  • Drew Dixon — 29 points

  • Kaden Underwood — 17 points, 9 rebounds

  • Grady Lantz — 13 points

Junior Varsity

Urbana defeated Calvary Christian 56–16, led by Braxten Spriggs with 25 points.

Freshmen

The Hillclimbers also secured a 54–27 victory over Greeneview.

GIRLS – Benjamin Logan vs. Kenton

The Ben Logan Lady Raiders hosted the Kenton Wildcats in a non-league matchup Monday night.

Varsity

The Varsity Lady Raiders put together a gritty, balanced performance but came up just short in a 63–59 loss to visiting Kenton. Seven players scored five or more points, highlighting the depth of Benjamin Logan’s lineup.

Rylan Norviel paced the Raiders with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Elliott Butler, Daylin Varner, and Paislee Rodenberger each added 9 points to keep the game tight throughout.

Adilynne Gregg controlled the paint with a game-high 10 rebounds and 5 points, while Molly Siefring and Jozie Taylor each chipped in 5 points.

Benjamin Logan mounted a late fourth-quarter rally fueled by defensive stops and strong rebounding, but Kenton converted key opportunities in the final minutes to hold off the comeback attempt.

Despite the setback, the Lady Raiders showed poise, depth, and resilience—positive signs as they continue their early-season schedule.

JV

The JV Lady Raiders earned a decisive 50–27 victory, using balanced scoring and strong team play to pull away from the Wildcats. Brielle Kline led the way with 12 points, followed by Paislee Rodenberger with 8. Madison Shields and Marley Shields added 6 points each, with several other players contributing in the win.

GIRLS – Triad vs. West Jefferson

Triad hosted West Jefferson and fell 48–16 in an OHC matchup.

Triad Leaders:

  • Jazz Ford — 4 points, 6 rebounds

  • Emma Martin — 3 points

  • Taylor Queen — 4 rebounds

Triad is now 0–1 in the OHC and 0–3 overall.

The Cardinals return to action Wednesday at Fairbanks for a varsity-only contest starting at 6 p.m.
