Two brothers and former Urbana High School athletes are making an impact on the Miami University club baseball team, with Will Donahoe earning national recognition for his performance on the field.
Will Donahoe, a junior, was named both the Division One National Player of the Week and Conference Player of the Week following his performance at the Battle Creek Blast Tournament, hosted September 25th through 27th by the National Club Baseball Association in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Miami went undefeated at the tournament, finishing 5-0 to claim the championship with semifinal and final victories over Michigan State and Illinois.
Batting leadoff, Donahoe went 8-for-16 across the five games, recording two doubles, a triple, three runs batted in, seven runs scored, three stolen bases and three walks.
His younger brother, freshman Brody Donahoe, also contributed to the team’s success. Brody went a combined 3-for-6 with two runs batted in and a walk in the wins over Michigan State and Illinois.
The RedHawks continued their strong start by sweeping a conference series against Ohio University October 3rd and 4th. Will earned back-to-back Conference Player of the Week honors after going 6-for-10 with one run batted in, five runs scored, five stolen bases and two walks.
Miami competes in the National Club Baseball Association’s Great Lakes East Conference. The team plays approximately 25 to 30 games across the fall and spring seasons, with conference champions advancing to regional playoffs and potentially the NCBA World Series.
The RedHawks have opened this year’s campaign with an 8-0 record.
Both brothers primarily play middle infield and utility positions and can also pitch when needed. Will and Brody were three-sport standout athletes at Urbana High School.
