Urbana defense stifles Indian Lake

The Lady Hillclimbers of Urbana used their defense to shutdown Indian Lake Wednesday night at Troy High School.

Urbana only allowed 25 points to the Lakers as they pulled away in the second half for a 50-25 victory.

Indian Lake had an early lead of 8-4 before Urbana closed the first quarter with a 4-0 run to tie the game.

The Hillclimbers poured on the defense in the second quarter forcing several Indian Lake turnovers which they converted into buckets to build a halftime lead of 23-12.

The second half was about the same as Urbana outscored the Lakers 27-13 over the final two quarters.

Kenton Trail Division Player of the Year Peyton Mounce scored 27 points to lead all scorers. She was the only Urbana player in double figures.

Kennedy Schwaderer had 11 for Indian Lake.

The Lakers finish the season 14-10.

Urbana (20-4) will now face Batavia in the District Final Saturday at Troy High School (time TBA).
