It was a defensive battle at Benjamin Logan High School, but Urbana was just a little stronger at the plate in their 2-0 win over the Raiders.
Urbana got on the board in the sixth inning after Kevin Endres doubled in two runs.
Brody Donahoe earned the win for Urbana, giving up six hits over seven scoreless innings. Soli Hughes started the game for the Raiders and recorded 18 outs in the losing effort. The lefty went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out six and walking two.
Endres led Urbana with two RBIs from the number seven spot in the lineup. The first baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Colt Teepe led Urbana with two hits in three at-bats.
Urbana takes the field again Monday at Tecumseh. Benjamin Logan will host Indian Lake.
Both teams were strong on the mound on Friday, but Kenton Ridge had the quicker bats in their 3-0 shutout of the Graham Falcons.
Kenton Ridge opened the scoring in the second after Grady Grubar forced a fielder’s choice, allowing what would become the game-winning run to score. They tacked on two more assurance runs in the sixth.
Owen Powell led things off on the hill for Graham Local Varsity Falcons, allowing six hits and three runs (two earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Jake Beard stepped on the mound first for Kenton Ridge and gave up three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking four.
Hayden Van Hoose, Brody Jenkins, and Breyton Reisinger each collected hits for Graham. Grubar led Kenton Ridge with two RBIs from the number eight spot in the lineup.
Next up for Graham is a home game against Shawnee on Monday. Kenton Ridge will host Jonathan Alder.
The Riverside Pirates could not get the offense going Friday night against Miami East in Degraff as the Vikings sank the Pirates, 9-2. Miami East held the Pirates to one hit over seven innings, while amassing 13 hits of their own.
Brody Osborne took the loss for the Pirates, going 4 innings and giving up seven hits and four runs with four strikeouts. Cam Shoe had the only hit for Riverside, driving in a run in the seventh inning. Brice Kauffman drove in the other run for the Pirates on a fielder’s choice.
Riverside drops to 7-12 on the season and 2-9 in league play.
