Varner’s big day spurns record-breaking day for Lady Raiders; More soccer scores

The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders had a record-setting Thursday night. They beat Stivers 17-0, setting several school records.

Those 17 goals set the single-game scoring record. Daylin Varner led the way in the dominant performances, setting the record for most goals in a single game with five, and breaking the record for points in a game with 11. Eight different ladies recorded a goal.

The West Liberty-Salem Girls Soccer Team traveled to Fairbanks, losing 7-0. Kaylee Blair had 17 saves in the game.

The Benjamin Logan boys’ soccer team defeated Stivers 8-1.

Senior Aidan Todd scored four goals and had one assist, and senior Landen Simon also had a goal and three assists.  Freshman Luke Vesely scored two goals, and junior Gaven Jordan had two assists, and fellow junior Xavier Allen scored a goal.

The Raiders improve to a school record 4-0 to start the season and are outscoring their opponents 31-1 thus far.

The West Liberty boys’ varsity soccer team lost its first game of the season against a strong Fairbanks team 5-0.  Tucker Searles recorded seven saves in goal for the Tigers.
