It was a busy night on the hardwood Thursday with varsity and middle school teams in action across the area, highlighted by strong team efforts and balanced scoring performances.
VARSITY GIRLS — Northridge 65, Riverside 31
The Riverside Lady Pirates fell to Northridge 65–31 on Thursday night as the Polar Bears built an early lead and maintained control throughout the game.
Northridge jumped out to a 23–7 advantage after the first quarter and extended the lead to 47–16 by halftime. The Lady Pirates continued to compete but were unable to close the gap in the second half.
Emilee Robinson led Riverside with nine points, while Chloe Purtee added eight. Riverside drops to 3–13 on the season.
7TH GRADE GIRLS — Bellefontaine 34, Northwestern 6
The Bellefontaine 7th-grade Lady Chiefs delivered a strong all-around performance Thursday night, rolling past Northwestern 34–6.
Braelynn Neer led the scoring with 14 points, while Myra Varner and Alivia Rogan each added eight. Arianna Rumer and Charley Frazier chipped in two points apiece as Bellefontaine improved to 10–2 on the season.
The Lady Chiefs are back in action Thursday when they travel to Kenton Ridge.
8TH GRADE GIRLS — Northwestern 23, Bellefontaine 17
The Bellefontaine 8th-grade Lady Chiefs dropped a hard-fought contest to Northwestern, 23–17, on Thursday night.
It was a defensive battle throughout, with Bellefontaine staying within striking distance before Northwestern pulled away late. The loss evens the Lady Chiefs’ record at 6–6 on the season.

Bellefontaine will return to action next Thursday, January 22, at Kenton Ridge.
7TH GRADE BOYS — Bellefontaine 49, Northwestern 29
Braylon Lyburtus led the Chieftains with 16 points, followed by Caleb Palmer with nine and Jack Fissel with seven.
8TH GRADE BOYS — Bellefontaine 40, Northwestern 21
Sennett Stolly paced the Chieftains with nine points, while Broxton Emrick and Rowen Daring each scored seven. Colson Garver added six points.
The Chieftains are back in action Saturday at Benjamin Logan as they look to keep the momentum rolling.
