Bellefontaine Chiefs Triumph in Five-Set Battle

The Bellefontaine Chiefs emerged victorious in a dramatic five-set match against Ben Logan, securing the win with scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 16-25, and 15-12. Junior Kelsie Snapp was a standout performer, recording 24 kills, 23 digs, and 4 blocks, while also serving 22/23 with 2 aces. Junior Madi Zedeker added 42 assists and 11 digs, serving flawlessly at 19/19 with 2 aces. Senior Taylor Banta contributed 14 kills, 22 digs, and a solo block, and Ava Reeves led the defense with 24 digs. Additional contributions came from Gabbe Hoon with 4 blocks and 2 kills, Ava Campbell with 4 kills, 4 digs, 3 blocks, and an ace, and Reagan Standley with 16 digs and an ace. Sophomore Ava Layman also played a crucial role with 4 kills. With this win, the Chiefs improved their season record to 4-1.

Bellefontaine also celebrated victories in their JV Red and JV Black matches. The JV Red team won in straight sets 25-23, 27-25, led by Jillian Ullom’s 16 digs and Ava Oppy’s 9 digs and 3 aces. Arianna Rangel added a solo block and 3 kills, while Kaeleigh Flora contributed 7 kills and 13 digs. In the JV Black match, Bellefontaine triumphed 18-25, 25-23, 25-23, with notable performances from Arianna Rangel (15 assists, 3 aces), Celine Blinn (10 digs, 3 aces), and Kinley Dunn (6 kills, 6 digs).

The Chiefs will be back in action on Saturday, August 31st, for their Program Day at Riverside, starting with the 7th grade at 10 AM, followed by 8th grade, JV, and Varsity.

Benjamin Logan Raiders Battle in Five Sets

In a closely contested match against Bellefontaine, the Benjamin Logan Raiders fell just short, losing 3-2. The Raiders’ scores were 25-22, 20-25, 16-25, 25-16, and 12-15. Mia Stahler led with 22 digs and 3 aces, while Kayla Williamson recorded 16 kills. Abby Vance added 8 kills and 3 blocks, and Autumn Cline contributed 35 assists. The Lady Raiders are scheduled to face Springfield at Springfield on Saturday, August 31.

West Liberty-Salem Tigers Dominate Northeastern

The West Liberty-Salem Tigers defeated Northeastern in three sets, 25-12, 25-20, and 25-13. Naomi Cole led the Tigers with 12 kills and 4 aces, supported by Londyn Loveless’s 13 assists and 8 digs. Kiersten Stoll contributed 4 kills and 3 aces, while Marisa Smith and Ellah Heminger played key defensive roles. The Tigers’ JVA team also won in straight sets 25-19, 25-9, with standout performances from Belle Sarver and Emma Liggett. The JVB team also achieved a victory in three sets, with impressive contributions from Emma Schmelzer and Britton Carter.

Indian Lake Lakers Continue Strong Season

The Indian Lake Lakers defeated Tecumseh 25-15, 25-15, and 25-14 in their home opener. Kenzie Dixon led with 8 kills and 4 aces, and Halle Roby contributed 21 assists and 8 digs. Cami Bailey added 6 kills and 3 aces, while Courtney Altstaetter recorded 7 kills and 3 blocks. The JV Lakers also won 25-17, 25-10, with standout performances from Ady Oldiges and Bew Wisener. The Lakers improve to 5-1 and will next face Springfield Shawnee on Tuesday.

Riverside Lady Pirates Secure League Win

The Riverside Varsity team claimed their first league win of the season, defeating Northridge in three sets, 25-21, 25-12, and 25-19. Aubree Huston had 12 digs, Avery Perk recorded 2 aces and 4 kills, and Jayden Hoffer added 7 kills. The JV Lady Pirates also achieved a victory on the road, winning 25-8 and 25-14. Makayla Hurley led with 7 assists, while Kenzie Stotler and Lilly Zwiebel contributed key plays.

The local volleyball scene continues to be vibrant and competitive, with teams showing strong performances and promising seasons ahead.
