Saturday was a busy day in Logan County for volleyball.
- Benjamin Logan fell to Findlay High School in 4 at home. The scores were 28-26, 19-25, 10-25, and 23-25. Mia Stahler passed a 2.54 and Makayla Williamson had 25 kills. The Lady Raiders take on Fairbanks on Monday, August 21 at home at 6:30 PM.
- Bellefontaine opened their season at home against Triad. The Chieftains swept the day with JV Black (2-0), JV Red (2-0), and Varisty (3-0) all winning in straight sets.The Chiefs started the season with scores of 25-8, 25-4, and 25-8. Sophomore Kelsie Snapp led with 16 kills, 6 digs, and a solo block, and was 8/8 serving. Junior Taylor Banta tallied 6 kills, and 8 digs, and was 6/6 serving. Sophomore Madi Zedeker recorded 31 assists, and 5 digs, and was 8/8 serving with 3 aces. Junior Libero Reagan Standley chipped in with 13 digs and was 20/21 serving with 5 aces. Junior Ava Campbell had 6 kills and was 14/15 serving with 4 aces. Senior Alexza Clifton added 1 solo block and was 11/11 serving. Junior Kylie Adams added a kill and Junior Ava Reeves assisted on defense.
The JV Red team recorded scores of 25-4 and 25-13. Ava Layman led the team with 7 kills, 4 digs, and perfect serving. Kylee Boggs added 8 assists. Presley Vigansky chipped in 5 assists and 7 aces. Kaeleigh Flora had 3 kills, 5 digs, and 2 aces. Zoey Conner tallied 3 kills. Jillian Ullom added 4 digs and 2 aces. Emma Whitaker had 6 aces.
The JV Black team won 25-8 and 25-8. Rylee Yelton recorded 8 assists and perfect serving. Sophia Jacobs tallied 4 kills, 2 digs, and perfect serving with an ace. Kahanna Dixon had a save and 5 aces serving 11/12. Alexis Varian had 1 kill and 1 dig. Ava Layman was 13/13 serving and had 3 kills and 5 digs. Jillian Ullom had 3 digs and 2 aces.
The Chiefs are back in action Thursday at home when they host Coldwater.
- Calvary Christian had a tri-match Saturday winning in 2 sets against Temple Christian in Lima 25-13, 25-9. Madelyn Trittschuh had 9 kills. Stacia Rogan had 3 kills and 1 ace. Ava Cole had 3 kills and 1 ace. Kari Gantz had 5 aces. Ruby Slemmons had 9 assists and Nora Thornton had 4.They also won in 2 sets vs. Monclova Christian Academy 25-14, 25-12. Madelyn Trittshcuh had 10 kills and 1 ace. Ava Cole had 6 kills and an ace. Kari Gantz had 4 kills and 4 aces. Tori Roby was 11/12 hitting, 4 kills, 16/19 serve receive, and 10 digs. Devin Rice went 18/24 hitting, 7 kills, and 2 blocks. Katie Roby was 11/11 setting, 12/13 serve receive, 18 digs. - West Liberty-Salem Tigers traveled to neighboring Urbana for the season-opener match for both teams. The Tigers won the Battle of 68 in all 3 matches and in straight sets. - Riverside 8th grade volleyball team fell to Indian Lake 11-25, 17-25. Maddie Bower had 5 points and 1 ace, and Kenzie Stotler and Clara McGill had 2 points each. They play at Botkins Monday at 5 PM.
