Wednesday High School Soccer: Raiders Fall, Bellefontaine Takes on Shawnee

The Lady Raiders lost another heartbreaker tonight when Tecumseh scored with 12 seconds left to win 3-2.

Izzy Henderson scored both goals for the Raiders and Katie Workman tallied an assist.

Rissa Bates had 10 saves in the loss.

The girls are now 6-8 on the season and are right back at it tomorrow evening at Marion Harding.

The Bellefontaine Lady Chiefs were saved from defeat Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Lexi Robinson stepped up with the shutout and was able to deflect big shots from the Shawnee Braves in the 2-0 victory.

The game was 0-0 at the half and both teams struggled to find their rhythm.

The contest was still tied at 0-0 with about 20:00 min to go in the second half.

Shawnee’s keeper came out far enough to allow Parker Penhorwood to take advantage and give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.

The second goal of the night came a few minutes later when Callie Shumaker punched one in from close range.

Quinlan Zedeker assisted on both goals and did a great job distributing the ball for the Lady Chiefs.

The Lady Chiefs will take the field again next Monday evening at AcuSport Stadium against Urbana.

Wednesday the Bellefontaine boys team suffered a difficult loss to the Shawnee Braves, 2-1.

The Chiefs played a fantastic second half shutting the Braves out and scoring a goal.

Luis Casanas won Man of the Match getting fouled in the box and converting the PK awarded.
