Weekend Wrestling Results; Martin and Pummel lead IL, Smith and May lead BHS

The Indian Lake Lady Lakers went to Washington Court House for the Queen of the Jungle tournament on Saturday and were led by 115lb wrestler, Reece Martin who earned an individual title. Tori Roby, 170 lbs, finished in 3rd place. Isabel Brunson, 110 lbs, was 2-2 and Kiylee Haude, 170 lbs, was 1-2. The ladies finished 5th overall in the 29-team event, and are back in action on March 5th in Marysville for their state qualification tournament.

The Indian Lake’s men were in action at the Central Buckeye Conference tournament at Graham. The Lakers finished 3rd overall and 2nd in the Mad river division and were led by league champion Owen Pummel 190lbs. Czar Dickson 138lbs and Dylan Valerio HWT were both conference runner-ups, Keyshawn Blackwell 106lbs and Zander Davis 165lbs were 3rd Tony Cummins 132lbs  and Taylor Clem 175lbs finished in 4th  and Jackson Young 150lbs finished in 5th to round out the place winners. The Lakers now enter the postseason and will wrestle at Versailles on Saturday.

Five Junior High Laker wrestlers vie for a spot in the JH state tournament and saw 3 Lakers advance to the State tournament in Youngstown on March 18th and 19th. Qualifying for the Lakers was Bronx Dickson, 96 lbs, who came in 4th place, Jordan Henderson, 96 lbs, 5th place, and Aaron Rapp, 164 lbs, who came in 5th.

Bellefontaine’s High School wrestling team competed at the Central Buckeye Conference tournament Saturday at Graham HS and placed 4th. Jeffery Smith, 113 lbs, came in 4th place, Zavier May, 144 lbs, 4th, Jared Young, 106 lbs, 5th, and Zane Tevis, 126 lbs, 6th place.

Also competing for Bellefontaine were Kaden Hobart (120), Wes Morris (132), Mason Cook (150), Parker Knox (190) & Charlie Bible (285).

Bellefontaine is back in action at Graham Saturday for the Division 2 Sectional Tournament.
