West Liberty-Salem and Calvary Dominate Tournament; Raiders End Season


In girl’s basketball OHSAA tournament action on Thursday:

West Liberty Salem defeated Triad 43-22.

For the Cardinals Emma Ferguson had 11 points.

Abbey Overfield had 7 points.

Kaley Nott added 3 assists.

Mia LeMay had 6 rebounds.

For West Liberty Maddie McGill and Maddie Cole both netted 9 points each.

Ava Astorino netted 8 points, Lilly Weaver added 7, and Megan Hollar and Bailey Poppe each scored 5 a piece.


The Lady Spartans defeated Milford Christian in round one of the OVCC tournament by a score of 44-32.

Abigail Reinhard led the way with 19 points and 8 rebounds.

KayLee Hurley scored 9 points with 7 rebounds and 5 steals.

Madhuri Cook added 9 points.

Kari Gantz netted 5 points with 7 rebounds.

Nora Thornton chipped in 2 points with 6 rebounds.

The Lady Spartans are now 15-3 overall and 10-1 in the OVCC.


The Ben Logan varsity Raiders ended their season in tournament play at Trotwood Madison Thursday night after a back-and-forth battle with the Tecumseh Arrows.

Down 25 to 28 going into the locker room at halftime the Lady Raiders outscored the Arrows in the second half 24-22 but just came up short 1 point with 2.3 seconds left in the game.

The final score was 50-49.

All Raiders contributed offensively and defensively in the battle.

Georgia Bates and Adilynne Gregg led the scoring with 10 points each, Mia Stahler had 9 points, Kyndal Cronkleton added 8 points, Mya Burrey had 7 points, Lahna Cook pitched in 3 points, and Maddy Herring 2 points.

The Lady Raiders had a fun and successful season ending their overall record 13-10.
