The West Liberty-Salem boys’ varsity soccer team defeated Springfield Catholic 4-0 in OHC action Monday night, raising the Tigers’ record to 4-0. The Tigers scored all their goals in the second half, led by Kamden Yang with 2 goals, while Jake Lauck and Wyatt Longaberger had a goal apiece. Lance Campbell had 1 assist, and Tucker Searles had 2 saves in goal to record the shutout.
The Tigers travel to take on Fairbanks in their next match on Thursday, August 28.
In more boys’ action, Benjamin Logan traveled to Graham and defeated the Falcons by the score of 1-0. After a scoreless first half, the Raiders found the back of the net off an Aidan Todd throw-in, and Joe Meeker only had to make 2 saves to make the score stand. The Raiders are now 3-0 on the season with 3 consecutive shutouts.
The Raiders next host Stivers on Thursday, while Graham travels to take on Miami East.
The Bellefontaine Chieftains fall to the Tecumseh Arrow boys 4-0. The Arrows put away two goals in each half.
A quick turnaround for the Chiefs forces them to prepare for River Valley Tuesday in the second home match of the season.
Now to the ladies. The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders defeated Graham 6-2. Rylan Norviel led with a hat trick, with additional scores from Ella Chamberlain, Daylin Varner, and Ella Stoodt. Lucy Johns, Kaylee Hays, Ella Chamberlain, and Ella Stoodt each had an assist in the win.
The Lady Raiders are 2-0 on the young season and have a contest with Stivers on Thursday at home to try to remain unbeaten on the season. The Lady Falcons will take on the Bethel Bees at home on Thursday.
West Liberty-Salem girls traveled to Springfield Catholic, falling short 2-0. Kaylee Blair highlights the day for the Tigers, recording 8 saves in the game.
The Tigers’ record swings to 1-2-1 overall as the team will travel to Fairbanks on Thursday.
