The West Liberty-Salem boys’ soccer program was in action Tuesday evening, taking on Miami East in both varsity and junior varsity matchups. The Tigers came away with a hard-fought draw at the varsity level and a strong win in the JV contest.

In the varsity game, WLS battled to a 1-1 tie, with senior Jake Lauck finding the back of the net in the second half to equalize. Goalkeeper Tucker Searles recorded five saves in goal to help preserve the result. With the tie, the varsity Tigers now sit at 11-2-1 on the season.

The JV squad earned a 3-1 victory over Miami East behind a balanced scoring effort. Peyton Ziegler, Eli Jones, and Bo Miller each tallied goals for the Tigers. Logan Zanfirov added an assist, while Rylan Leichty and Jerome Cordrey split time in goal, notching two and one saves respectively. The win brings the JV team to an even 4-4 on the year.

Up next, the JV team travels to Bellefontaine on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff. Both teams return to action at home this Saturday in a doubleheader against Urbana. The varsity match begins at 3:00 p.m., with the JV game to follow. Saturday will also mark Youth Soccer Day at Tiger Stadium — a celebration of the program’s future stars.
