The West Liberty-Salem boys’ soccer team closed out one of the best seasons in program history Tuesday night, falling 5–0 to top-seeded and state-ranked Kettering Alter in the Division II district semifinals.

The Tigers showed discipline and determination throughout the match against a talented Alter squad, which entered the game ranked No. 4 in Ohio.

The Tigers’ season was highlighted by strong teamwork, sharp defense, and consistent playmaking across the field.

The team also recognized its six seniors for their leadership and commitment: Jake Lauck, Elijah Christison, Brock Burgel, Caleb Ling, Wyatt Longaberger, and Lance Campbell.

Their dedication and example helped guide the Tigers to one of the most successful campaigns in school history.

In other district action, Calvary Christian’s boys battled Preble Shawnee in a Division V matchup, falling in a hard-fought overtime contest, 2–1.

The Spartans end their successful season with a record of 9–8–2, highlighted by the program’s first-ever OHSAA Tournament victory.

Graduating seniors include #18 Nehemiah Dillon, #7 Trent Comer, #33 Tanner Hurley, #17 Fletch Lambert, #25 Elijah LeCrone, #5 Cohen McDonald, #24 Lincoln Roell, and #13 Evan Schmidt.

“In my first year of coaching, I couldn’t have asked for a better group of seniors. They set the tone early this season, led by example, and truly honored Christ in the way they’ve carried themselves. We’ve got big shoes to fill, but it was an honor and a blessing to be their coach.”

– Head Coach Daniel Wilt

Both area programs showcased tremendous effort and sportsmanship as their seasons came to a close.
