West Liberty-Salem’s historic playoff run came to a close Friday night as they ran into a great Ironton team.

Loaded with talent, size, and speed, the Fighting Tigers from Ironton were too much to handle as WL-S fell 63-21.

West Liberty-Salem fell behind early as they threw an interception on their first series that was returned inside the ten setting up first and goal.  One play later Ironton had a 6-0 lead.  The first quarter was a nightmare for WL-S as Ironton ran out to a 29-0 lead while moving down the field on every possession scoring touchdowns.  The defense was stellar too not allowing a Tigers first down until the 3rd quarter.

West Liberty-Salem did some damage on special teams as Jack Bahan returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. Bahan finished the playoffs with four kick returns for TDs.

The final Tigers score came in the second half with Josh Wilcoxon rushing in from a yard out with a running clock.

Ironton will move on to the Division V Championship where they will face Liberty Center.

West Liberty-Salem finishes the season with a record of 13-2. The Tigers set a record for most wins in a season while advancing to the State Semifinal for the first time in school history.
