West Liberty-Salem 2, Newton 0 (boys)
The West Liberty-Salem boys varsity soccer team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 2-0 shutout victory over Newton.
The Tigers scored both of their goals in the first half. Eli Jones and Conner Leichty each found the back of the net, while Leichty and Kamden Yang each recorded an assist.
Tucker Searles earned the shutout in goal, making three saves with help from the West Liberty-Salem back line.
The Tigers will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 8, when they travel to New Knoxville. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Botkins 1, West Liberty-Salem 0 (girls)
The West Liberty-Salem girls soccer team hosted Botkins Thursday evening, but the match was called due to weather shortly after the start of the second half. The Tigers took a 1-0 loss.
Ella Jacobs recorded four saves in goal for West Liberty-Salem.
The Tigers are now 3-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in OHC play.
West Liberty-Salem will return to action Thursday, traveling to Madison-Plains for conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
