The West Liberty-Salem varsity girls track and field team placed fourth in the highly competitive West Liberty-Salem Tiger Invitational.

Delaney Jones led the Tigers with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash.  Her time of 12.14 is a new Tiger Stadium record.

Placing second for WLS were Elise Longshore in the pole vault (10’0), the 4×800 meter relay team of Malia Miller, Addie McAuley, Ashley Yoder, and Mallory Bostick (9:53.96), and the 4×100 relay team of Tori Douthwaite, Delaney Jones, Gwen McCullough and Chloe Griffith (50.19).

Third place finishers included Malia Miller in the 1600 Meter Run (5:30.06) and the 3200 Meter Run (11:45.41), the 4×200 Meter Relay team of Tori Douthwaite, Hattie Jacobs, Claire Longshore and Gwen McCullough (1:51.40), and the 4×400 Meter Relay team of Ashley Yoder, Gwen McCullough, Delaney Jones and Mallory Bostick (4:13.79).

Claire Longshore chipped in two fourth-place finishes in the 100 Meter Hurdles (16.52) and the 300 Meter Hurdles (49.18).  Also placing fourth were Chloe Griffith in the 100 Meter Dash (12.86), Mallory Bostick in the 400 Meter Dash (1:03.93), and Gwen McCullough in the 800 Meter Run (2:30.21).

Seventh-place finishers included Addie McAuley in the 800 Meter Run (2:33.6), Lyndee Harrison in the shot put (28’10.5), and Alaina Irving placed eighth in the 100 Meter Hurdles (17.01).

The WLS B team saw the 4×800 relay team of Lily Smith, Mariska Smith, Mylee Dooley, and Taylor Kennedy place seventh (11:25.77) and the 4×400 Meter Relay team of Lily Smith, Emma Smith, Mariska Smith and Taylor Kennedy place eighth (4:56.87)

West Liberty-Salem will host the Ohio Heritage Conference Championships on Monday, May 6th, and Thursday, May 9th.

 

The West Liberty-Salem boys track team bested 9 other teams Friday at their home invitational.

Individual Scorers include first-place finishers Jackson Steider 110m H (15.58), Jack Bahan 100m (11.14) and 200m (23.02), Asher Knox 1600m (4:33.28) and 800m (2:04.85), Troy Bradley 400m (51.98), and 4x100m (44.72) Henderson, Bahan, McGill, Steider.

In second place was Dylan King 1600m (4:39.65), Quentin Rudolph 800m (2:05.22), Taryn Bradley 200m (23.42), and Mark Bair Discus (155-7), Shot Put (43-6.5).

5th place finishers were Casey Boyer High Jump (5-6), 4x800m (8:47.55)  Q. Rudolph, LaRoche, Wallen, King, and 4x400m (3:41.90) Louden, Lauck, Rudolph, Henderson.

Other finishers were Brevin Louden 400m (53.94), and 4x200m (1:34.54) Henderson, Tr. Bradley, Myers, and McGill took 6th place recognitions; Bradley Petry 100m (11.89), Taryn Bradley 300m H (44.43), and Joey LaRoche 3200m (10:30.93) in seventh place. Taryn Bradley finished things with a 10th-place finish in the 110m H (17.76).

Jack Bahan was named the Reliant Invitational’s male most valuable Athlete.  His 100m effort (11.14) broke Jace Wade’s school record (11.22) set in 2021.

The team will compete again Monday at Day 1 of the Ohio Heritage Conference Championships hosted at West Liberty-Salem.
