The local boys golf season continued Thursday with West Liberty-Salem, Indian Lake and Bellefontaine all in action. West Liberty-Salem picked up two wins, Indian Lake opened CBC Mad River play with a victory, while Bellefontaine came up short.
West Liberty-Salem
West Liberty-Salem improved to 2-1 overall after defeating Madison-Plains and Southeastern in a tri-match at Locust Hills Golf Course.
The Tigers shot a 181, beating Madison-Plains 181-203 and Southeastern 181-211. The course played to a par of 36.
WL-S had a strong performance throughout its lineup, with all six golfers shooting under 50. Brayden Thompson led the way with a 40 to earn medalist honors and 22 league points. Braxton Catron followed with a 44, Calen Fairchild shot 48, and Logan Behlmer, Carter Henderson and Eli Jackson each finished with a 49.
The Tigers will compete in another tri-match Friday at Woodland Golf Course against Triad and Northeastern.
Indian Lake
Indian Lake opened CBC Mad River play with a 191-201 win over Shawnee Thursday. The Lakers are now 1-0 in the conference and 2-1 overall.
Jaxon Snipes earned medalist honors with a low round of 44. Crew McPherson followed with a 48, Mason Berg shot 49 and Jesse Carder finished with a 50 to complete the Lakers’ team score.
Grant Wickline added a 54, while Reid Roberts shot a 57.
Indian Lake will travel to Lakeland Golf Course Friday to face Miami East at noon.
Bellefontaine
Bellefontaine dropped a 167-177 decision to London Thursday.
The Chieftains were led by three freshmen, as Ean Fultz, Hudson Banta and Colson Garver each shot a 43 to tie for second individually. Noah Smith added a 49 to complete Bellefontaine’s team score.
Tyler Rossey shot a 50 and Keaton Dinovo finished with a 54. Bellefontaine also had Sammy Strayer, Christian Sterling and Beckett Kessler compete in the JV lineup.
Despite the loss, the Chieftains continued to get valuable experience from their young lineup as the season moves forward.
