The West Liberty-Salem boys soccer team closed out its regular season with a tight 1-0 win over Calvary Christian.
Kam Yang scored in the first half off an assist from Patrick Brooks, and the Tigers’ defense held firm to preserve the shutout.
Goalkeeper Tucker Searles recorded four saves and earned his 11th shutout of the season, a new single-season school record for boys soccer.
The Tigers finish the regular season at 14-2-1 and will open tournament play on Tuesday, October 14th at 7 p.m., hosting Milton-Union.
The West Liberty-Salem girls soccer team came up just short Thursday night, falling 3-2 at Newton.
Kaylee Blair tallied 12 saves in goal. Ellery Wygal scored both Tiger goals and Emery Longaberger added an assist.
The Lady Tigers are now 5-10-1 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
They’ll close out the regular season Saturday at Southeastern, with kickoff set for 10 a.m.
