WL-S celebrates Senior Day with a 1-0 win, more Monday boys’ soccer scores

Monday night featured a full slate of boys’ soccer action across the area, with Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, West Liberty-Salem, and Calvary Christian all taking the field. The Tigers celebrated Senior Day with a win over West Jefferson, Bellefontaine played to earn a shutout, and Benjamin Logan and Calvary Christian competed well.

West Liberty-Salem 1, West Jefferson 0

West Liberty-Salem celebrated Senior Night with a 1–0 win over West Jefferson, locking up second place in the OHC with a 13–2–1 (5–1) record.

Kamden Yang scored the lone goal in the second half off a Conner Leichty assist.

Goalkeeper Tucker Searles made 2 saves for his 10th shutout of the season, tying Joe Yoder’s school record for saves in a season.

Honored seniors included Brock Burgel, Caleb Ling, Elijah Christison, Lance Campbell, Jake Lauck, and Wyatt Longaberger.

Bellefontaine 3, Shawnee 0

The Bellefontaine boys’ varsity soccer team put together a complete team effort Monday night, earning a 3–0 road win over Shawnee.

Anderson Konz scored twice for the Chiefs, both in the first half. Landon Cook added an assist on the second goal. Lincoln Banta added a third goal in the 19th minute to seal the shutout victory.

Bellefontaine improves to 3–11–0 overall (2–7–0 CBC) and returns home Wednesday, October 8, to host Urbana for Senior Night.

Tecumseh 4, Benjamin Logan 0

After clinching the Mad River Division title last week, Benjamin Logan couldn’t find their rhythm in a 4–0 loss to Tecumseh. The Raiders drop to 11–4–1 and will look to secure a school-record 12th regular-season win at home Thursday against Kenton on Senior Night.

Calvary Christian 2, Jackson Center 2

Calvary Christian battled to a 2–2 draw with Jackson Center. Senior Nehemiah Dillon and sophomore Cale Buchenroth each found the back of the net, with Buchenroth also adding an assist.

Goalkeeper Brody Prall came up big with six saves, including a clutch penalty stop to preserve the tie.

The Spartans extend their unbeaten streak and will host West Liberty-Salem Thursday, October 9, for Senior Night.
