West Liberty-Salem made the football playoffs by claiming the last spot in DV Region 20.

Their reward was going to the #5 seed Carlisle (8-2) Friday night.

The Indians seized control of the game early with three touchdowns in the first quarter and cruised to a 35-0 victory.

WL-S couldn’t get anything going with their offense and was forced to punt or turnover on downs on every possession of the first half except for one. That was the last possession of the half where the Tigers drove down the field from their own 10-yard line all the way to the Carlisle 2 before the clock would run out on an incomplete pass in the end zone.

The Indians used their size and running game to dominate the line of scrimmage. Running back Alex Collins had three rushing touchdowns with over 200 yards rushing in the win.

Carlisle will face #4 Graham Friday night 11/7 at Graham High School.

Tigers QB Beckett Sullivan threw for 193 yards while Carson Poppe had 5 catches for 79 yards.

WL-S made the playoffs for the 6th straight season even though they graduated 17 players from 2024’s State Semifinal team and turned the program over to a new head coach after Dan McGill decided to step down after last season.

Brad Jarzab took over and turned an 0-2 start into a 5-5 regular season with a playoff berth for a young team.

This was West Liberty-Salem’s 17th playoff appearance (all since 2005) and they hold a record of 17-17 in the postseason.
