It was a busy and memorable stretch for West Liberty-Salem basketball, with teams at multiple levels competing for league titles and tournament hardware.
In varsity girls action, Miami East defeated West Liberty-Salem 52–36. The Lady Tigers, now 19–3 on the season, were led by Ava Poppe with 11 points. Addi Wallen added 8 points, Ava Astorino scored 9, Arianna Weaver finished with 6, and Lucy Cole chipped in 2.
On the middle school hardwood, West Liberty-Salem’s 8th-grade boys claimed the OHC Championship, defeating Fairbanks 20–15 at Greenon. The Tigers, now 13–4, were led by Mack Heminger and Liam Harrington with 7 points apiece. Foster King scored 5, and Kipton Crowder added 1. The win also secured the OHC North Championship, capping off an impressive postseason run marked by grit and determination.
Meanwhile, West Liberty-Salem’s 7th-grade boys traveled to Greenon for the OHC tournament finals, where they fell to Northeastern by a final score of 28–15. Nathan Deitrick led the Tigers with 9 points, followed by Greyson Leickty with 5 and Griffin Christison with 1. Despite the loss, the team wrapped up the season with a solid 10–9 record.
