WL-S girls soccer takes runner-up at ChamLo

The West Liberty-Salem High School Girls Soccer team competed in the ChamLo (Champaign-Logan County) tournament on Saturday at Benjamin Logan High School.

The team competed in 7v7 in four 25-minute games and then in the championship.

To get to the title match, the Lady Tigers defeated Calvary 3-0.

In game 2, they fell to Ben Logan’s second team, 6-2.

They bounced back, however, to beat Ben Logan’s first team, 4-1, and Bellefontaine, 7-3, to earn their way into a finals rematch with Benjamin Logan 2.

Their search for revenge was thwarted by a tough Raiders squad, though, falling in the championship round, 4-1.

Scoring for the Tigers during the tournament was Skyler Ropp (6 goals), Arianna Weaver (4 goals), Ellery Wygal (2 goals), Jenna Cline (1 goal), Ella Jacobs (1 goal), Kaylee Powell (1 goal), Avery Brown (1 goal), Lilly Yeater (1 goal) for a total of 17 goals.

Kaylee Blair and Olivia McQuinn had numerous saves on goal.

WLS Girls will play at Grandview Heights in a round robin scrimmage on August 9th.
