WLS Girls Track team advances several to next week’s state competition

The West Liberty-Salem girls’ track and field team competed in the D3 Regionals Prelims Wednesday and Friday evenings at Troy Memorial Stadium.

The top 8 places made the podium at Regionals, with the Top 4 placers moving on to the State Track Meet on Friday and Saturday, June 6-7 at Jesse Owens’ Stadium.

Placing 2nd and moving on to State for the Lady Tigers is Chloe Griffith in the 100m dash (12.31), a new personal record.

Placing 4th and also moving on to State was Elise Longshore in pole vault with a vault of 11’0″, her new personal record.

Placing 5th and advancing with the At-Large-Bid is the 4×100 team of Tori Douthwaite, Hattie Jacobs, Ella Albers, and Chloe Griffith (50.58).
Placing 5th place in pole vault and making the podium was Tori Douthwaite with a vault of 11’0″, a new personal record
Placing 6th and making the podium in the 100 hurdles was Hattie Jacobs (16.53).
Arianna Weaver ran the 800m dash with a new personal record of 2:24.62, placing 7th and making the podium.
Placing 8th and making the podium in the 200m dash, Chloe Griffith (26.66).
Placing 10th in the 3200m run was Isla Leichty with a time of 12:53.38.
 
The Lady Tigers will continue competition on Friday afternoon in Columbus. 
 
Field Events start at 1:00 PM with Elise Longshore in the pole vault running as a final.
 
Running events start at 9:30 AM.  Chloe Griffith will run prelims in the 100m dash at 10:20 AM, and the 4x100m relay team will run at 10:30 in prelims. All events will run on a schedule.
