Some of the best horseshoe pitchers in the world will be competing this Saturday, in what promises to be one of the premier tournaments in the United States.
Headlining the event is Alan Francis of Defiance — the undisputed number one horseshoe pitcher in the world.
With 28 world championship titles, Francis is widely regarded as the greatest to ever play the game.
He will be pitching in the A Class from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Joining him in the top division will be a field of elite competitors, including:
- Dale Moles of Indiana, ranked #2 in the world for Elder Men
- Tim Seagroves of Tennessee, ranked #1 in Tennessee and #16 in the world
- Amy Francis of Defiance, ranked #11 in the world for women
- Doug Crawford, currently #3 in Ohio
- Don Epps, the top-ranked pitcher in Ohio
- Michigan’s top two women pitchers: Brandy Morehead and Helga Hewlett
Additional top-tier pitchers from across Ohio and neighboring states are also scheduled to compete.
The tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. with Classes D, E, and F.
Classes A, B, and C are expected to start at 1:30 p.m. and run through 5:00 p.m.
To round out the day, the West Liberty Lions Club will host its famous fish fry supper from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., a local favorite that draws big crowds each year.
