Wrestling teams place at CBC Championship

The Indian Lake wrestling team wrestled at the CBC Championships at Jonathan Alder on Saturday.

The Lakers finished in 3rd place overall as a team.

Jordan Henderson claimed the 120-pound championship.

Other finishers include:

  • 2nd place: Aaron Rapp (215), Christopher Timms (285)
  • 3rd place: Brayden Riffell (113), Ke’Shawn Blackwell (126), Bronx Dickson (132), Czar Dickson (150), Tristan Shoffner (190)
  • 4th place: Draden Stevenson (138), Gavin Henry (144)
  • 5th place: Cash Scott (106)

Next up, the Lakers will head to Versailles on Saturday, for the Southwest Sectional Tournament.

The top four wrestlers from each weight class will advance to the Southwest District Tournament at Troy High School.

 

The Benjamin Logan wrestling team also traveled to the CBC Championships.

The Raiders finished 4th overall as a team and 3rd in the Mad River Division.

Seven Raiders competed for a CBC title but came up just short.

Notable finishers include:

  • CBC Runner-Ups: Cooper Buck (120), Carter Buck (132), Kyle Kibler (138), Owen Weaks (144), Hayden Hites (165), Ethan Carpenter (175), Owen Jordan (190)
  • 5th place: Jeremiah Parker (126), Levi Achor (215)

The Raiders will now head to Northwestern High School on Saturday to compete in the Southwest Sectional Tournament.

The top four wrestlers from each weight class will advance to the Southwest District Tournament at Wilmington High School.

Bellefontaine High School’s wrestling team had three individuals place in the CBC Championships.

The Chieftains finished 8th out of 12 teams overall and 4th out of 6 teams in the Kenton Trail Division.

The BHS placers include:

  • 2nd place: Jeffrey Smith (113), Jared Young (126)
  • 3rd place: Zavier May (157)

Brenden Murray was awarded the CBC Sportsmanship Award.

“We wrestled smart overall, but we had some matches that could have been won,” said BHS head coach Aaron LaBatt. “Jeffrey and Jared faced tough competition, but they wrestled well. Zavier had a great day, outperforming his seed.”

The Chiefs will head to the Division 2 Sectional Tournament at Northwestern High School on Saturday to begin their postseason journey.
