Yelton wins individual State Champion at DI Bowling Tournament; Lady Chiefs finish 5th

Bellefontaine’s Haylee Yelton is the Division I bowling champion for girls rolling a 699 series at HP Lanes in Columbus on Friday.

Yelton had games of 221, 213, and 265 to earn the crown by 23 pins.

Bellefontaine’s Nevaeh LaFollette threw games of 138, 214, and 269 to place 12th.

Gracie Hood was 18th with a 598 series. Chloe Heminger threw a 499 to place 58th.

The Lady Chiefs qualified for the 8-team matchplay bracket to determine the team state champion. Bellefontaine lost in the opening game to Kettering Fairmont and finished 5th in the state. However, with the 5th place finish, the team qualifies for the National High School bowling tournament in June in Ft Wayne, Indiana.
