Zanesfield Petanque crowns new champion at Buck a Boules Tournament

The Zanesfield Petanque Club hosted its 9th Annual Buck a Boules tournament on Sunday, drawing local competitors for a day of friendly rivalry and precision play.

After three qualifying rounds, the team of Ruby Johns and Justin “Bo” Johns stood out as the only undefeated squad, finishing 3-0 and securing a spot in the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Ruby and Bo Johns defeated Mike Epp and Larry Niswonger 13-4, while Lucy Johns and Mollie Johns advanced by beating Ron Walls and Jon Dalmau 13-8.

The third-place matchup saw Team Walls overcome Team Epp 13-8 to claim the final podium spot.

In the championship game, Lucy and Mollie Johns captured the title with a decisive 13-6 victory over Ruby and Bo Johns, taking home this year’s Buck a Boules crown.
