1948-2026
Beverly (Bev) Ann Preston, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 78, at The Ohio State Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Bev was born on March 15, 1948, in Greenville, Ohio, to Jack and Grace (Lantz) Caudell. She was a 1966 graduate of Greenville High School. Bev later dedicated many years of service to HBD/Thermoid until her retirement in 2012. Throughout her career, Bev cultivated lasting bonds with her coworkers, many of whom became a second family to her.
Bev had a huge heart filled with love for all. As a sister, her love was profound. As an aunt, Bev’s unwavering support and dedication were an inspiration for her nieces and nephews. As a friend and neighbor, her spirit gathered the best of the best. She found happiness in simple things, especially spending time in her yard and caring for her flowers. She loved her dogs, especially dachshunds. She was a world traveler who took memorable vacations with her family and friends. Bev had a way of making life brighter and more fun. She was known for her quick wit and her well-timed one-liners. Someone you could laugh with, lean on, and always trust. She enjoyed going to the casino with friend Jayne or her brother Warren. Bev carried on the tradition of making chocolate dessert for family gatherings and made a delicious sugar cream pie. She loved her sweets and a cold fountain Coke or a Starbucks Pink Drink. Bev could often be found supporting her nieces and nephews with their extracurricular activities. Her legacy will live on in all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother Warren Caudell and her sister Loretta (Caudell) Fansler, brother-in-law Dick (Judy) Preston, as well as her many nieces and nephews. Bev also leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Kaptain and Rosie.
Bev is now reunited with her husband, Larry, the love of her life for 51 years. Married on July 26, 1968, they shared a wonderful life together, making their home primarily in Bellefontaine, while also enjoying the unique experience of living in Japan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Preston, her brother, Eddie Caudell and sisters-in-law Pam Caudell and Elaine Caudell, brother-in-law Ray (Carol) Preston, and her parents.
In keeping with Bev’s clear wishes for a simple departure without formal fuss, a burial service for family and dear friends will be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 30 at Greenville Union Cemetery in Greenville, Ohio, with Reverend Joe Godwin presiding. A memorial service celebrating the life of Bev will take place that afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Honey Birch Farm, 550 Township Road 30E, West Liberty, Ohio 43357. The gathering will begin with a service followed by an opportunity to greet her family and share refreshments as we cherish the legacy she leaves behind.
Bev’s presence will be profoundly missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known her. In honor of her life and the love she shared, the family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Logan County Library or Columbus Humane, ensuring her legacy of kindness continues.
