Catherine Jane Earles, 85, of Plain City, and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at her Plain City residence.
She was born in Springfield, Missouri, on March 18, 1941, the daughter of the late Richard Harding and Sarah Jane “Sally” (McCann) Hampson.
On March 1, 1981, she married George Michael Earles, and he preceded her in death in 1983. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, James Hampson Miller, in 2018.
She is survived by her four children: David Lee Miller, Deborah Jane Miller, Brenda Sue (Tom) McDonald and Mary Beth Gaudin, her grandchildren: Lori Gonzales, Jennifer Miller, Victoria Barnes, Susan Morris, Ryan Goodrich, Joshua Franklin, Johnathan Rackley, Brian Rackley, and Joseph Lyon, many great grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth (Bill) Moore and Susan Louise Craven, and many nieces and nephews.
Catherine worked for Honda of America, working at the motorcycle plant, where she worked in IT Administration, and retired in 2019. She was an awesome lady and loved adventure. She loved to scuba dive and was a certified Master Scuba Instructor. She loved to visit Belize, where she dove at the Black Hole, as well as diving with sharks and taking her family diving for lobsters, and spear fishing. She also loved bicycling, traveling, and camping.
In her younger days, she was a talented singer and musician, earning a vocal scholarship to go to college. She also played the piano and the organ. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren & great grandchildren. She was a former swimming lessons instructor at the YMCA as well as a Cub Scout Leader. She loved her country and was a proud American and proud daughter of a US Marine Corps & US Army Veteran.
Father Shawn Landenwitch will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 am in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 316 E. Patterson Ave. Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Visitation will be Thursday, June 4th, from 4 to 7 pm at the Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
