Danny Allen Kerns
1964-2025

Danny Allen Kerns, age 61, of West Mansfield, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by family.

He was born on March 22, 1964, in Bellefontaine to the late Lewis Lee and Flora Marie (Kleffman) Kerns. Also preceding him in death were his mother-in-law, Penny (Gordon) McCarthy, nieces Britany Kerns and Isabeau Povey, nephews Nathan and Brandon Kerns, and great niece Haven Kerns.

On June 11, 1982, he married his high school sweetheart Kimberly K. (McCarthy) Kerns at the West Mansfield Church of Christ: and she survives; with their three sons John (Kasey) Kerns, Jacob (Andrea) Kerns and Jeremiah Kerns; eight granddaughters Lilly, Melody, Evalyn, Hazley, Kinley, Klaire, Reagan, Rilynn and who he considered his grandson, Kayden. He has 5 siblings, Dave (Sandy) Kerns, Terry (Tammy) Kerns, Andy (Tammy) Kerns, Rob (Amber) Kerns, and Connie Kerns; a father-in-law, Robert McCarthy; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong best friend Tony Fields, with whom he worked, fished, and enjoyed golf cart rides. He also leaves behind his very special pup, Bruno.

He was a 1982 graduate of Benjamin Logan and Highpoint JVS, where he majored in Masonry.  He enjoyed cutting wood with his dad and siblings in their family business. Dan worked in construction for many years and was a true jack of all trades. He was a huge Cincinnati Reds and Pete Rose fan. He loved woodworking, making swings, chairs, etc., attending auctions, decorating cakes, and fishing. Dan coached baseball in West Mansfield for many years and was proud of all the kids he coached. You could find him almost every morning out for an early golf cart ride up to the local gas station for his daily cup of coffee, then to our local store for his fresh donut, but his true pride and joy was his family. Dan enjoyed Sunday family dinners, holiday traditions, and any sporting event his grandkids became involved with, and would attend as often as he could.

Dan attended the West Mansfield Methodist Church.  He is in heaven, at peace, pain-free, and will be missed by so many here on earth. He's enjoying all the cherry pie he wants. Rest easy, John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal everlasting life.

Calling hours will be on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the West Mansfield Methodist Church (212 East Center St., West Mansfield, OH 43358). A brief service will be held at 4:30 PM, with visitation and dinner downstairs following until 7:00 PM.
