1942-2025
David F. Downing, 83, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
David was born in Bellefontaine on April 18, 1942, to the late Robert Lee Downing and Eva Winifred (Moore) Downing. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Ann Logan, and brothers Robert D. Downing and Jerry L. Downing; and his loving partner, Twila A. Howel,l who passed away on September 4, 2016.
David is survived by a son, David Downing, Jr., of Lakeview; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends David and Jean Jackson of Bellefontaine.
A graduate of DeGraff High School, David started working at the DeGraff Livestock Sale Barn as a teenager and continued that even into retirement. He also worked at Honda MAP - Paint Department, and retired in 2007 after 20 years of service. David led a simple life, yet was a dependable and hard worker.
Pastor Rob Starnes will officiate a graveside service on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Clay Township, Auglaize County, at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Campbell Place Activity Fund, 356 Kent Dr., Bellefontaine, OH 43311; having been a resident at Campbell Place, David appreciated the care and friendship he received.
