Dawson C. Thomas, 16, passed away far too soon on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Wilson Health in Sidney, Ohio.
He was born on January 21, 2010, the son of Christen (T.J.) King and Caleb M. Thomas.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Christen (Halberstadt) & T.J. King of Bellefontaine and his father, Caleb M. Thomas, of Anna, a sister, Hailey (Brian) Ferrell, brothers, Sawyer Thomas, Foster King, sisters, Ciara (Josh) Hayden and Kiersten (Gabe) Wilcox, maternal grandparents, Gail (Jack Wellmerling) Wilges, maternal great grandmother, Judy Meyer, maternal grandparents, Jerry (Mary) Halberstadt, maternal great grandparents, James (Jane) Halberstadt, and Jeanne Miller, paternal grandmother, Martha Thomas, and paternal great grandparents, Walter (Patsy) Mauer and Mary (Howard) Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jade Kennedy Thomas (age 2), and infant brother, M.J. Thomas, both in 2008; grandfather, John Thomas, and great-grandfather, Tom Meyer.
Dawson was a thrill seeker at heart, with a passion for gaming, snowboarding, and the rush of rollercoasters. He especially loved gaming with his friends, where "friendly competition" could sometimes get a little intense, but always brought plenty of laughter, memories, and stories to tell. He had dreams of soaring the skies as a pilot one day, embodying an adventurous spirit that few could match. Whether he was kayaking in the great outdoors, camping, or just hanging out in the woods with friends, Dawson enjoyed every moment spent with those friends and family.
He was a Junior enrolled at Jackson Center High School and was a student in the Electrical Trades program at Upper Valley Career Center. He was known for his kindness, sensitivity, and loyalty to his friends. With an infectious sense of humor, he always knew how to make others smile and laugh.
Dawson was also an organ donor, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of others even after his passing.
Funeral services for Dawson will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, October 2, 2026, in the Jackson Center Family Life Center, 310 Davis St., Jackson Center, Ohio 45334, with Deacon Terry Coleman officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday, October 1st, and again one hour prior to the funeral on Friday, in the Jackson Center Family Life Center. Burial will be private in St. Lawrence Church Cemetery, Rhine, at a later date.
Let us honor Dawson's adventurous spirit and the love he brought into our lives. We'll always remember him as our little thrill-seeker, and he will forever remain in our hearts.
