Elizabeth S. Peterson, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday evening, May 22, 2026, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Elizabeth was born on June 22, 1934, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Thomas Fletcher and Lulu Omage (Bryant) Johnson. She married Billy Shelton Peterson on June 22, 1952, in Bolivia, North Carolina. Elizabeth is also preceded in death by her husband and oldest son, Billy Dean Peterson.
Elizabeth is survived by 2 of her children: Teresa Elizabeth Peterson of California, and Mark Steven (Bonnie) Peterson of Bellefontaine; 7 grandchildren: Melissa Peterson, Mark Peterson, Doug Hoffman, Debbie McClure, Dan Hoffman, Alexa Reroma, and Reese Thomas; several great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a former landlord and owner/operator of Peterson Records and Gifts in downtown Bellefontaine, and was a bookkeeper for Automotive Safety Services for many years.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate Elizabeth’s funeral service on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 12 noon at Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
